New Playout System Coming Soon!
Hello Folks,
I hope you are well and enjoying the Easter break!
As you may have noticed we have experienced a number of problems with our playout systemover the past few months. Also, the playout PC itself is struggling to cope with the current usage and the increasing amount of music in the library.
Thanks to Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP, we have been granted £3,700 to replace both the PC and software and we are planning to switch to PlayIt Live later this week.
PlayIt Live has all of the same features we use in the current playout system and you will still be able to present live in the studio, remotely voice track and remotely present live shows.
PlayIt Live is used by many large and small radio stations and is based in the UK.
As an outright purchase we will save thousands of pounds over the next five years in licensing costs, which is especially important for us as a community radio station.
The Tech Team has been working hard in the background to set up the new system and to make the switch as seamless as possible for everyone.
We are planning to change over to PlayIt Live on Friday 25 April 2025.
If you record your show and upload it via Dropbox, you do not need to do anything differently.
However, if you normally access PlayoutONE or WebVT to present your show:
There will be some training sessions, written instructions and video tutorials to demonstrate the new system.
We will be writing to each of you individually with system access details, your switchover date and a set of instructions (including some short videos) for using the new system in the next couple of days.
Your music and other audio files have been copied to the new system and placed in new folders for you to access. You won’t need to upload anything to the new system
You’re also welcome to drop into one of the following online training sessions so that you can see the system in operation and ask any questions.
Please contact us bfm-techsupport@bishopfm.net if you have any questions (please be patient during office hours, as those volunteers may be at work).
We do think PlayIt Live will prove to be a bit more stable than the current system and hope you enjoy using it as much as we’ve enjoyed setting it up for you.
Kind regards,
Gillian.
