Happy new year, survey, news

Dear beloved BIRCON fans,

Happy new year! (For those following the Gregorian calendar.) The team has been enjoying some seasonal holidays, but we have not been resting on our laurels. We are actively working on BIRCON 2026, and should have some more concrete news in a month or two. Meanwhile, we’d love to hear your thoughts on the last con.

BIRCON 2025 Feedback

Some of you already sent us some feedback, thank you. For the rest, we’d love it if you took a few minutes to fill in our survey.

Recommendation

What was your favorite game of 2025? Let us know in the Discord! I for one, would like to give a shoutout to Raiding the Obsidian Keep by Joseph R. Lewis, and published by the Merry Mushmen. Our group played it with the Wolden system, and had a lot of fun. A tip for GMs: what at first looks like a regular castle crawl is really elevated by a level or two by the really interesting details, the interconnectedness, and the wild ideas within. Take the time to read it fully before running it.

Knightcore the RPG

The Knightcore logo, a character sheet, and a long-haired woman in a white silk gown, shining metal vambraces, holding a sword.

Are you familiar with the recent aesthetic popularized on social media involving shining armor and swords, flowing fabrics, and ethereal, haunting glows? Knightcore, or castlecore, has become a thing, and I (Frank) have made it into an RPG. An unedited version, plus adventure, is already available on my blog, and I’m launching a Kickstarter for it, for ZineQuest, in February. If you’re interested, be sure to follow from the pre-launch page! The Kickstarter is to pay for art and printing.

Until next time!

—The BIRCON Team.
