BIRCON in 2 days! Game allocations!
Well met, dear TTRPG connoisseur,
In a mere 2 days the doors to the inaugural Berlin International RPG Con will swing wide open! Metaphorically speaking of course, technically, as they’ll only swing open wide enough for an orderly queue of attendees to be checked in one by one.
In this, the last before the convention, newsletter:
Game Allocations & General Schedule
Thank you to all those who submitted their game preferences last weekend. We’re happy to report that we’re able to offer everyone one of their first preferences!
We’ve put together all the allocations (and free slots) on our official Event Schedule Miro Board. You don’t need a Miro account to view it.
What if I didn’t submit any game preferences?
Don’t worry, we promised everyone one game at least, so if you didn’t sign up for any, we’ve randomly assigned you a spot in a game. If you don’t like it for whatever reason, just switch it for a free slot elsewhere when you arrive.
Free Slots & Swapping Slots Around
Speaking of free slots, with 22 games at 5 players each, we ended up with 110 slots (give or take). With about 80 attendees, that’s a slot each and 30 or so left over. At the con, we’ll have a big schedule board printed out where you can put yourself down for one of these free slots, or swap your slot with someone else, if they’re willing.
Errors & Clashes
We admit that our way of game allocations is experimental. In the hopes of making a fair system vs first come, first served, it’s entirely possible that we made some mistakes, despite our best efforts. In this case we apologize profusely, and will try and accommodate you in another way.
Game Allocations Registry
We’re happy to make changes on the Miro Board schedule until Friday evening, but on Saturday, the printed out version will be the source of truth for the day. Please help us keep it up to date, and cross yourself out if you’re not attending an allocated game, so that someone else may take the slot. And just talk to people or us organizers for swaps.
Vendors!
We have a bunch of RPG (and RPG-adjacent) vendors cramming their sublime wares onto tiny tables. Go see them, talk to them, and most importantly, buy from them, so they’ll come back with more next time. Help lighten their load and lighten your wallet at the same time! Actually, please pay with cards where possible - the BIRCON Collective stand takes all popular cards and contactless, and Frank hates dealing with cash. So much so that he’s offering 10% off on any Mottokrosh Machinations stock, and even 20% for BIRCON GMs!
Don’t Come If You’re Sick
If you are feeling unwell, we know it’s disappointing, but we would please ask you not to come to a packed venue. We have a long waiting list and can find someone to take a ticket from you or issue a refund.
Code of Conduct
A quick reminder that to make the event a truly fun and inclusive experience for everyone, we ask you to adhere to our code of conduct.
Respect Thy Fellow Gamer
We are aware that our favorite gaming café is going to be bursting at the seams with all the events we’re cramming in on the day. For this reason, we’re asking you to bear the following in mind:
- Please try and not be too loud; we know things get exciting in games, but let’s try and keep the overall volume manageable.
- Coffees are delicious, but making them is noisy and takes time. If there is a queue at the bar, consider temporarily switching to a bottled beverage or a beer or wine to keep things moving.
No Longer Attending?
If for whatever reason you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible. We have a long waiting list and can arrange for someone to buy your ticket from you, or can arrange a refund if needed.
Questions
For any advance questions, please email us. For questions on the day of the event, contact one of the organizers, or one of our helpers. You’ll spot us by the magenta “BIRCON CREW” labels.
