AI Policy

This is a topic that has come up recently, so it was high time that the BIRCON team put their heads together and formulate where we stand on the matter. Naturally, we side with the many creatives, artists, illustrators, authors, and wordsmiths our convention supports. Here is our official stance:

BIRCON's Policy on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs)

BIRCON prohibits the distribution and promotion of content such as text, art and video, that is created using generative AI tools such as LLMs, Diffusion Models and similar tools at our event and in materials relating to the event. For vendors and exhibitors, we have asked for compliance with this policy, and will not permit any products or services relying on these tools.

We cannot, however, police content on a per-session basis. If a game session has been created by or contains material generated by AI/LLMs, we ask that they be clearly designated as such so that players might make informed choices about their contact with this material.
