Afterparty, Player Tips, Website!

Dear splendiferous earthling,

We have several very exciting and important updates for you in this missive.

Official BIRCON Afterparty

Is one full day of non-stop gaming not enough for you? Us neither, so you’re in luck, we’re organizing a special, lucky ticket-holder-only, shindig on Sunday 12th October at Tales Untold.

What to expect

We’re running a four hour adventure lovingly entitled “The Meat Grinder”. Characters find themselves fighting for glory (and survival), navigating treacherous traps, and tenuous alliances, in a vast arena, in a desert of blue sand.

All afterparty ticket holders will be gathering in the RPG room at Tales Untold, with their unique ticket number, and the GM will call the first randomly chosen participants to the table. As soon as a character dies, its player gets up, and a new, randomly chosen player takes their place. Depending on how deadly it turns out, chances are you get to play multiple rounds.

At the end we celebrate the victorious last character(s) standing! 🍻

The System

For this bonanza we’ll be using the Vaults of Vaarn ruleset, a D&D-like game that fulfills all the requirements we had for this: simple yet exciting, with interesting and flavorful powers and equipment, and which has an online character generator. 😄

Yes, yes, but how to get a ticket?

Well, now that would be telling. Best ask around at the con! Maybe some vendors have some and gift them to the most sympathetic customers. Perhaps some GMs have some to reward a player with. Maybe the funniest joke in our Discord gets one? Perhaps some are hidden. Either way, these golden tickets are naturally strictly limited and bound to be highly sought after.

A golden ticket with a bloody comic-style illustration of a confident, muscled gladiator, back to back with a panicked nobleman clutching a sword, clearly way out of his depth.

Tips for Players

The other week we had a livestream where we talked about what you can do as a player to maximize fun at the gaming table. If you missed the stream, you can watch the recording on our Youtube channel!

Website!

It may look similar, but it’s brand new! It’s where you will soon be able to register for sessions. We’re still finalizing a couple of things, and making sure all our awesome events (I hear we have an Actual Play!) fit snugly into their relevant spots and that all GMs have checked their games’ descriptions, and such.

But you can already visit and create your account. If you register your account with the same email address you used for buying tickets, you should see your ticket directly on the website.
