Welcome to the Biocrafting.Studio newsletter
Welcome to the Biocrafting.Studio newsletter, a weekly email by me, William Eliot, providing an inside look into the first project from my practice: "Digested Objects".
This newsletter aims to reveal a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the biocrafting process, leading up to Biocrafting.Studio’s debut exhibition. Expect to see lots of photos, sketches, GIFs and reflections as I carry out the project, as well as other related inspiration. This will be a totally transparent look into what I do including all the highs and the lows, the successes and the failures along the way.
Project 001: "Digested Objects"
The first project, "Digested Objects," involves an interspecies design process with mealworms, that are able to safely digest polystyrene and eradicate it. Each week, I'll update you on the biocollaborative process as an array of objects are co-designed with these creatures.
"Digested Objects" prototype and process
The newsletter's journey culminates in the Biocrafting.Studio Exhibition at a gallery in London, where I will showcase emerging designers exploring biodesign, biomimicry, and biomaterials in innovative ways.
Exciting news - I have recently received a grant from Arts Council England, pushing the vision and project further.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I can't wait to explore, create, and grow together. If you have any questions or have any ideas, email me at will@biocrafting.studio
With warm regards,
William Eliot
