Neuron23 Closes $113.5M Series A and B Financing
Neuron23, Inc., a South San Francisco, CA, and Munich, Germany-based early stage biotechnology company focused on developing precision medicines for genetically defined neurological and immunological diseases, has launched backed by a combined $113.5m Series A and B financing. The round was comprised of $33.5m Series A financing from Westlake Village BioPartners and Kleiner Perkins, and $80m Series B financing led by Redmile Group. The company intends to use the funds to accelerate the development of its pipeline and expand its artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled drug discovery and biomarker platforms for identifying therapeutics for devastating neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson’s disease, neuroinflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis, and systemic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

OnlineDoctor closes over CHF 5,5 million Series A
The internationally widespread Swiss telemedicine-startup OnlineDoctor AG has successfully closed a financing round and receives capital of over CHF 5,5 million. The head of this round was taken over by Swiss health insurance CSS, which invests in Digital Health Startups with SwissHealth Ventures AG. Internationalization and growth, technical developments of the platform and expansion are the areas where the received capital will be utilized.

Poland’s GeneMe secures €5.2M seed funding for its rapid COVID-19 test
GeneMe, Poland-based biotechnology company with a COVID-19 test, has secured a €5.2 million round of seed funding led by Robin Tombs, co-founder of Yoti and previously of Gamesys, and other angel investors. The startup has developed and patented a universal protein (polymerase) for RT-LAMP testing, which allows the production of highly accurate, rapid, molecular genetic COVID tests.

Oscar, a NYC-based health insurance company built on a full stack technology platform, closed a $140m funding round. The round was led by Tiger Global Management, LLC, with participation from Dragoneer, Baillie Gifford, Coatue, Founders Fund, Khosla, Lakestar and Reinvent.

Bestow Raises $70M in Series C Funding
Bestow, a Dallas, TX-based life insurance company, raised $70m in Series C funding. Backers included Breyer Capital, Valar Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Core Innovation Ventures, Morpheus Ventures and Sammons Financial.The company intends to use the funds to launch innovative products, scale platform services, and accelerate growth into new distribution channels and partnerships.
