News coverage earlier this week noted that it was Netflix doc Who Killed Malcolm X? that prompted Manhattan’s DA to investigate the (now officially wrongful) conviction of two men in the civil rights leader’s death. And then there’s Surviving R. Kelly, which was watched by a Homeland Security agent in their presumable free time, spurring the renewed inquiry that led to the singer’s arrest. And I don’t even need to tell you that without The Jinx Wegman’s sandwiches everywhere might still be at risk.
It’s kind of exciting, and a little scary, that the genre we’ve faithfully followed for so long is wielding such power. So today we’re asking a couple questions: What true crime property do officials need to take heed of next? And is there a current case that is nagging at you that you’d like a true crime powerhouse to take a run at?
