Walton Goggins will star in a scripted true-crime podcast. The show’s called Deep Cover: The Drug Wars, and is based on reporting from Jake Halpern, a Pulitzer-winning journo with a background in radio.

Halpern will narrate the podcast, Rolling Stone reports, and Goggins (who you likely know as Boyd Crowder from Justified) will voice FBI Agent Ned Timmons, an undercover operative who infiltrated a motorcycle gang and eventually crossed paths with Panamanian dictator General Manuel Antonio Noriega. The show drops on July 13, with episodes coming every Monday. You can listen to the Deep Cover trailer (or subscribe) here. — EB

You can follow Robert Durst’s trial via a new daily podcast. The Jinx’s central figure (and Wegmans sandwich fan) heads to trial on July 27 for the slaying of Susan Berman, and Jury Duty: The Trial of Robert Durst will be there with him, Deadline reports.

Hosted by Court TV commentator Kary Antholis, the show will release weekly episodes with “unique access to evidence and testimony from pre-trial proceedings, courtroom recaps, expert commentary, witness testimony and interviews with individuals who have special knowledge related to the trial,” Deadline reports. Breaking news from the case will get additional, one-off episodes from the scene.

The first episode will drop on July 15, and a trailer for the show is available here. — EB

OK, one more podcast! Unfinished is a podcast from UK-based platform Archant, focused on “the most troubling cold cases in the East of England.” The newest season, its third, covers how a small-town journalist at a paper called the Yellow Advertiser discovered that the local police were recruiting sex offenders and allegedly participating in a cover-up of a child sex-abuse ring. The first three episodes dropped on Sunday, with “more to follow in coming weeks,” they say. You can catch up on Unfinished here. — EB

Surely you did not think we would send you off for the weekend without any longreads. Here’s what we’ve got:

  • “I Hope Our Daughters Will Not Be Punished” [Dissent] Central Texas prison inmate Kwaneta Yatrice Harris reports on the dreadful conditions — made worse by the coronavirus crisis — she and other woman face in U.S. prisons.

  • From soldier to worker [Chicago Reader] “Police unions were born of resistance to discipline for brutality. Do they belong in the labor movement?”

  • Hackers Are Finding Footage on Police Body Cams They Bought on eBay [Vice] Used body cameras are commonly for sale online — who knew? — with files that aren’t too tough to extract.

Monday on Best Evidence: Seriously, no idea. Good luck, Sarah!
