True crime at the Oscars, 2022 edition

It’s the Wednesday of Oscar-noms week, and you know what that means…it’s second-guessin’ time! The full list of nominations is right here. Relevant to our interests:

• Flee, which properly speaking is probably not true crime, but you could make the argument for it in the genre, and from where I sit it’s the odds-on favorite;

• Attica, which definitely counts (and just a reminder: you can watch it free on Showtime’s YouTube channel all this month); and

• House Of Gucci, which lost buzzy steam by the turn of the year and got a single nomination for hair/makeup.

Anything on the noms list that shouldn’t be? Anything they missed that’s going to have to content itself with Globes or SAG Awards? — SDB
