In 1996, experienced backcountry guides Lollie Winans and Julie Williams disappeared after entering Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park for several days of hiking and camping. After a protracted search, park authorities discovered Winans and Williams at their remote campsite, their throats slashed and the crime scene oddly staged.
