Richard Linklater adapted another Skip Hollandsworth joint almost 15 years ago, which became Bernie; now he and Hollandsworth are back with Hit Man. Why did fidelity to the source material work for the first film, and a more speculative approach for the second? Is there a generational view of Linklater that some viewers have to account for?
