Stupid true-crime marketing tricks
the true crime that's worth your time
I have to give the Oxygen marketing team credit, because it’s not like Eve and I aren’t talking about The Real Murders of Atlanta. Granted, we’re talking trash about it — that this “isn’t even how blood spatter works!!!!” (Eve), that we can’t tell if the cause of peach death was getting stabbed or pushed out of a window (me) — and the trash-talk I’ve just mentioned doesn’t even include the title’s tacky drafting off Oxygen’s cousin network Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise. Or the fact that, yes, Atlanta is in Georgia, but the peach’s primary cultural symbology here in 2022 is that of the tuchis emoji.
Is this terrible? Or is it genius? Or is it…both, somehow? — SDB
