Sins Of Our Mother: "I've got it very divided in my head"
Plus Helen Hunt, Gina Gershon, Salman Rushdie, Brett Favre, and...Dylan McKay?
the true crime that's worth your time
The crime
As I said in my review of When The Moon Turns To Blood, oo-fah: where to start. A tip of the tinfoil chapeau to KTVB7’s piece on Sins Of Our Mother for their summary of the case in chief:
[Lori] Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell are charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the deaths of [Lori’s children] Joshua "JJ" Vallow and Tylee Ryan. The children disappeared in September 2019 and were found dead nine months later on Daybell's Fremont County property, in June 2020.
Daybell is also charged with first-degree murder for the death of his late wife, Tammy Daybell. Vallow was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection to her ex-husband's death, Charles Vallow.
The story
Sins Of Our Mother, a three-part Netflix docuseries on the case, premieres Wednesday September 14. I haven’t watched the entire thing, partly because I just reviewed Leah Sottile’s book on the case and recorded a Deep Dive episode about it late last week, and partly because it’s directed by Skye Borgman — and I think that if you know my issues with the Sottile and you’ve read any of my other reviews of Borgman content, you probably have enough information to decide whether this is worth your time.
