Plus: Keith Morrison's new podcast debuts
the true crime that's worth your time
I didn’t plan on being so “American,” I swear. Just a couple weeks ago, I American Gun-ned it, and today I’m back to talk about American Autopsy, a book from earlier this year that I didn’t hear about until I read about this year’s Clue Awards. Maybe Sarah and I should reboot our “favorite American” thread from 2021, as the new options keep coming.
Author Michael Baden is likely familiar to many of you — the now 89-year-old doctor and pathologist was the host of HBO show Autopsy; he provided controversial (and eventually recanted) testimony during the OJ Simpson murder trial; he was also the person who publicly disputed the Hennepin County medical examiner’s cause of death for George Floyd.
That’s kind of his thing: he’s the guy you get when you want an oppositional view of findings; he’s also unafraid of the spotlight or the camera.
