If you're looking for a perfectly serviceable rundown of how Joran Van Der Sloot was finally brought to justice, you could do worse than Pathological: The Lies of Joran Van Der Sloot, an NBC News documentary that will drop on Peacock on Tuesday, February 27. It's a long, fairly complicated, two-homicide case that spans multiple countries and courtrooms, so this easily digestible overview of the story's twists and turns isn't going to make the genre of true crime any worse. That said, it had the potential to make the genre a little bit better — but every time it came close to that turning point, it reverted to stale true crime type.
