One for the road
the true crime that's worth your time
Please relax, the Muppets didn’t commit any crimes1. But given our proximity to one of the biggest travel days of the year — and that The Muppet Movie is one of the greatest road trip movies ever — I thought it appropriate.
Today we’re talking about the true crime that’ll get you over the river and through the woods. What are the true crime books that will keep you engaged even through the distractions, indignities, and only vaguely comprehensible announcements at your airport gate? What true crime TV/films will you be watching once your group is allowed to board? Oh, wait, now I need to embed this one:
I have a side question for that second one: is your true crime viewing decision at all influenced by what folks (or kids) passing by might see over your shoulder? (If so, skip Till Murder Do Us Part: Soering vs. Haysom until you reach your final destination, as it is very reliant on graphic crime scene photos.)
And if you’re traveling by car, are there podcasts you’ve been saving for the drive, or are looking forward to diving into as you’re stuck on the freeway? Any recommendations for travelers with kids in the car who want to take in true crime without warping their young ones for life?
As always, you know what to do. Safe travels! — EB
