October 2025 bonus review: Nobody's Girl
the true crime that's worth your time
Virginia Roberts Giuffre and the perils of the excerpted tell-all
The crime (with a content warning for its substance, as well as mentions of suicide)
The decades-long trafficking and assault of women and children by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

The story
Penguin Random House released Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice last week. Much of the coverage makes sure to mention that the author, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, insisted to anyone and everyone – her co-author*, Amy Wallace; her editors at PRH; her family – that, should she not survive until the proposed pub date, the book should go ahead.
*the text uses the term "collaborator," but under the circs I don't love that word choice
