Plus: two new podcasts and when your life becomes a true crime show
the true crime that's worth your time
Dirty John and The Case Against Adnan Syed have come up as Emmy contenders. Dirty John (which was covered in this episode of The Blotter Presents), seems like the least likely option, given the campiness (which, was that intentional?) of the Bravo production. But Gold Derby, which makes predicting awards races its stock in trade, says that DJ has a chance, pointing toward Connie Britton’s Golden Globe nod for the series. If you’ve been meaning to catch it and have Bravo on your TV, set your DVR now -- the station will marathon the whole series on June 15.
Director Amy Berg is quite understandably hoping for Emmy recognition of HBO series The Case Against Adnan Syed, which Sarah and I discussed in March. Deadline suggests that things look good for recognition in the Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series category, which was won last year by Wild Wild Country (another The Blotter Presents centerpiece, of course, listen here).
