The crime
In theory, the various arrestable offenses shown on COPS and Live PD, from sex work to drug dealing/possession to reckless driving, etc. and so on.
In practice, that “turning policing into content” has a corrosive turbo-Heisenberg effect on both law-enforcement “protagonists,” and on the consumer’s concept of what is acceptable — and/or constitutional — action on the part of police. And, in the case of that first thing, may create (and certainly not discourage) dangerous and corrupt behavior in the pursuit of making “good TV.”
