Kilgallen · NXIVM · SDB vs. DVR
Plus Delvey and JLaw, Somerton Man, and wanting better for Elizabeth Vargas
the true crime that's worth your time
The legendary Dorothy Kilgallen’s Murder One is our bonus-review topic this month. I’ll save my ruminating on how that last name should become a standardized verb in the secondhand-book trade1, and note instead that 1) I can’t believe that counterfeiting book got any votes, so well played, my fellow obscurity nerds; and 2) I did say I would probably review the top two vote-getters — but I think I’ll review Murder One and another Kilgallen-adjacent book instead.
Mark Shaw has written approximately nine pounds of crackpottery about her death, so I could pull one of those off my shelves, or dig into Lee Israel’s Kilgallen. Let me know if you’ve got a pref!
