It's your holiday weekend open thread
the true crime that's worth your time
I was at Trader Joe’s last night and it was basically a crime scene. Or a riot? Especially in the produce section, which, yay vegetables, boo seemingly unattended children absorbed in digital games standing right in front of the potatoes.
ANYWAY, Sarah and I agree that there are way too many things happening right now that are worthy of discussion, so we’re going to drop a slew of prompts to which you can respond — or you can go full free skate and bring up your own topic! We’re up for anything this Thanksgiving.
What are you catching up on during the mini-break?
What’s the latest crime (or crime-adjacent) wikihole you’ve fallen into? (Sarah has a really good answer to this one.)
Does anyone else feel unenthused about diving into Welcome to Chippendales, or is that Sarah’s and my unique gripe?
I know that citizen investigation isn’t our mandate here, but since basically everyone I know has texted me a variation of this in the past week: Dude, what happened in Idaho and why can’t investigators come up with a single lead?
We’re looking forward to hashing over all these questions, and more, with you the next few days, and we’ll see you back here on Monday. Have a lovely Thanksgiving/couple of days off to our U.S. readers, and thanks to the rest of you for bearing with our American holiday. — EB
