It's time to talk about 'Unsolved Mysteries'
the true crime that's worth your time
For many of us here, NBC’s launched-in-1987 series Unsolved Mysteries was our gateway to true crime, an initially limited show that kicked off with hosts Raymond Burr and Karl Malden before Robert Stack stepped into the role full time. Since then, it’s spawned a Netflix reboot (which Sarah likes) and nearlt 600 episodes. That’s a lot of mysteries that haven’t been solved.
The newest Netflix season for the show begins today, so this seems like a good time to chat about the venerable series: what still works, what needs an update, and how you’d tweak it if you were in charge. Additional questions to ponder: do you have a favorite episode (and would you like to see the Netflix version revisit it)? Are there any cases you hope they avoid? And, finally — given the season — are there any episodes of UM that actually scared you — and if so, which ones? — EB
