How many of these CrimeCon award contenders have you watched, read, or listened to?
the true crime that's worth your time
CrimeCon announced its Clue Awards last week, in a ceremony that included Best Evidence side-eye recipients Nancy Grace, Paul Holes, and Kelly Siegler. But a roster of presenters that we’re not so sure about isn’t enough reason, on its own, to make me ignore its list of winners for this year — after all, understanding trends in true crime, even if I hate them, is part of this gig.
So I’ll hustle past the news that the “Crimefighter of the Year” award went to The Gabby Petito Foundation, with this from Variety: “Derrica and Natalie Wilson, who received the award in 2022 for co-founding the Black and Missing Foundation, presented the award to Petito’s parents and step-parents during the ceremony; in turn, the Petito Foundation co-founders announced a $15,000 donation to BAMFI.” That could have gone worse, I guess.
Now, onto the award winners! They’re listed in full on the CrimeCon site, but I’m going to paste them below so I can link to each to save you a “which one was this?” Google or two.
Today’s questions are easy: which of these properties have you consumed? Which were worth your time? And do you agree with the rankings? We can’t wait to hear. — EB
