From the archives: What's the last true crime you quit?

the true crime that's worth your time

Seahawk Michael Dickson gets in the spirit. (Dean Rutz / Seattle Times)

As noted yesterday, we’re strolling through the B.E. archives this week and reposting some vintage content — and today, ironically, we’re returning to a discussion thread suggested by the Substack dashboard. Even a broken clock etc., I guess? Anyway, this question from four years ago, aka “the end of The Before Time,” is worth revisiting, because we might have different reasons for bailing on a book or docuseries than we did in 2020…not to mention the umptillion true-crime properties that have come out in the interim, most of them probably enh at best.

What’s the last true-crime property YOU quit on? Mine, strictly speaking, is The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, although I didn’t hate it so much as I felt like I got a reviewing handle on it after three eps, and haven’t returned to watch the rest (and…probably won’t). — SDB
