My new essay at Mn Artists, Long Live the Disabled Artist, Long Live the Disabled Artist(s), touches on friendship, grief, tokenism, and how we will do what we can for as long as we can. I'm extremely proud of some of the attention it's gotten on social media, particularly mention from the the access office at The Kennedy Center, VSA.
I'm hosting an online reading of that that essay, Long Live the Disabled Artist... on February 6th at 7pm central time. Tickets (including some very near free access-based priced options) are on sale now.
If you're looking to talk to an experienced artist about the business side of your arts practice please check into booking time with me or one of my colleagues on the Artist Career Consultation Roster at Springboard for the Arts. Consults are free for Minnesota artists, and we do meet with those from elsewhere on occasion. Most consults are remote, either on Zoom or by phone.
My project about letters from an 1890s Rochester State Hospital psychiatric patient got some great press this fall. Check out KIMT and the Rochester Post Bulletin here. There will be more on this, so stay tuned.
I so appreciate those who are interested in my work. Thanks for reading along this far, and do be in touch.
Warmly,
Alison
