Hello, dear subscribers!
I do hope you haven't forgotten about my newsletter, but if you did, that's understandable—seeing as this is only my fourth email in ten months.
I recently completed a small creative project, which I'm taking the liberty of sharing below. I don't know that it's
good per say, but it's
mine—so I'm proud of it all the same.
The project's (rather lazily bestowed) name is "Armageddon"; it's a 14-page minicomic about an atheist professor named Larry who thinks he wants to believe in God, and his brief interaction with a street evangelist. (The comic doesn't actually specify that Larry is a professor, come to think of it. Oh well. Bit of extra-textual canon for you there, I suppose.)
This all started out as a purely text-based story I attempted to write some months ago, with the idea that a manifestation of my "inner atheist," as it were, would be the protagonist. I shared the results with a couple friends, and received the surprising response that my story read something like a Chick tract. I was less horrified than intrigued by this idea, and decided to lean into the concept by re-imagining it as a simple, pamphlet-sized comic. The finished product is meant to read
somewhat like a gospel tract. But it's not a gospel tract—it's just a story I wanted to tell.
"Armageddon" was designed to be read on physical media (the erratic black borders on the images below are partially a consequence of this). So if you
would like a paper copy of the comic—by all means, please shoot me an email with your mailing address! (I can be reached at
[email protected] and/or by replying to this email.) I probably
should stick to my original intention of charging $1.50 a copy? But honestly, 1) it would bring me joy to send any one of you a copy regardless, and 2) I really estimate the enjoyment quotient at 73 cents, tops.
It probably takes more time to read the above text than to read my actual story, so—without further ado! Here is "Armageddon," issue 01:
