#18 An ode to summer

about last summer and the summer to come

What makes a life worth    living

When hands finally reach for your arms and your chests touch, for a    moment

The sound of a laugh, almost unbelievable, you haven’t heard it in        years

It rings differently in your ears, when it’s not coming from your cellphone, and I —

Don’t think anything makes you feel alive like knowing that you   are    loved —

To be wanted

The first step into a cool room to escape the Summer heat beating down the nape of your neck,

Seeing yourself in every     painting

Sculptures of innocence    and life     loved and lost

The feeling is always the same,     a return to the trascendental,     we are all the same

My body and your body    your body and mine    walking down the pavement, it’s almost twinkling

Don’t think anything makes you feel alive like knowing that you   are     here —

There are so many hands waiting to touch you, so many arms waiting to reach you,

Someone at the other end of the line hoping you will   get   home    alright

Don’t think anything makes you feel alive like arriving home to your favourite cranberry juice —

Waiting in the fridge, it’s been years —

What makes a life worth    keeping, safe in your chest, held between your fingertips —

Don’t think anything makes you feel alive like a memory of you, told by someone you love —

Don’t think anything makes you feel alive like touch,    laugh,

a crowded metro
