Hey there!

I'm writing to you from my desk, which is where I live now. I'm putting the last little touches on Record of a Spaceborn Few, and though I think you'll enjoy it, I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't looking forward to being done. My publisher and I have plenty more polish to do before the book heads your way in July, but in the meantime, the folks at Hodderscape have a short excerpt available for your reading pleasure. That link will take you to an essay by Ghuh'loloan Mok Chutp, a respected Harmagian academic at the Reskit Institute of Interstellar Migration. She's at the start of a new research project, and she hopes her work will interest you. Please give her a wave of your facial tendrils if so.

As soon as the manuscript leaves my hands, I'm off to France! Next week, I'll be at Les Utopiales, an international science fiction festival in Nantes (birthplace of Jules Verne!). I'll be doing lots of awesome panels, including one with my French translator, Marie Surgers, on the process of shifting my books' linguistic gears. That's not a topic I've ever been able to tackle at a con before, and I'm really looking forward to it. If you hail from that corner of the world, I hope you'll come say hi. (Say hi to Marie, too. I put her through so much nonsense when it comes to alien pronouns.)

On the subject of translation, I've finally put links on my website to all available foreign language editions (scroll down and you'll see 'em). The current list is as follows: French, German, Romanian, Czech, and Portuguese. More are on their way!
