An enormous book launch and tour update
Hello sapient space-dwellers,
So much is happening! I will now tell you about it.
Book launch stuff
My new novel, As You Wake, Break the Shell, will be out October 13! Originally, that was just the US publishing date, but the UK launch has moved up to the 13th as well. Everybody gets it on the same day.
I am very, very stoked to note that the book has been getting wonderful early reviews thus far, including from Publishers Weekly and Library Journal. If you’d like to read a preview snippet, Reactor has a short excerpt from one of As You Wake’s early chapters. I hope you find it to be a nice little snack.
I’ve had some questions about where to buy the book outside of the US and the Commonwealth. The answer is: anywhere English-language books are sold! I’m not involved in distribution or sales even a little bit, so just have a chat with your local bookseller and they’ll be able to order a copy for you, if they aren’t planning to stock it already. There are also a bunch of different translations on the way (French, Spanish, and I thiiiiink German should all be out this year) (but again, ask your bookseller) (don’t quote me on this) (I know it’s literally my name on the cover, but still).
Pre-orders remain open everywhere, and some signed editions can still be reserved from select bookstores in the US and the UK. Check out the pre-order links on my website to figure out where you’d like to buy your copy from (if you don’t care about a signature, the correct choice is always your nearest indie bookstore).
Book tour stuff
My US tour is coming up imminently! I’ll be hopping coast to coast from October 9 to through October 18. Some events have already sold out, but there are still tickets available for most, so check out the tour stop listings on my website to get a seat while you can. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.
For folks coming to see me at New York Comic Con, please note that my spotlight panel on Saturday, October 10 is an add-on event that requires a ticket alongside your badge. You’ll be given a copy of the book (a few days early!) and a guaranteed spot in the signing line. My very good friend Susana Polo will be interviewing me for this one, and we are sure to have a blast. Snag your ticket here.
I’ve had a good number of kind emails asking if I can make tour stops in other states/towns/countries, and oh man, I’d love to. The thing is, I’m not the one who decides where to go on tour! That’s all organized by my publisher, and me and my suitcase just go where we’re told. I really appreciate the warm invitations, though, and I wish I could go everywhere I’m asked to.
For folks who either aren’t near a tour stop or can’t make the event, I have got boatloads of podcasts, interviews, and other online offerings lined up in the weeks ahead, which I will round up on my website once I am through the gauntlet that requires me to be places in person.
And another thing
A few short weeks after my tour ends, I’ll be back in Oregon for the Portland Book Festival on November 7. It’s my first time attending, and I’ve heard nothing but awesome things. My event schedule is not out yet, but I’ll have it up on my website once I know more. In the meantime, you can pick up a festival pass for a full day of books, music, art, and food. Obviously food. It’s Portland.
I think that’s all
Or at least, that’s the last thing listed on the “update website/send newsletter” post-it stuck to the bottom of my monitor. I am now going to get a snack and play a video game.
As always, keep looking up.
Ad astra,
Becky
