Sunday Shortcut: Meet in the Middle
Finding somewhere interesting to stop, eat or explore while on a long journey can be difficult. Inspired by Make My Drive Fun, this week I made a shortcut to find a place of interest halfway between your current location and somewhere else from Maps. You could use this to plan a rest stop on a long drive, or to find somewhere to meet a friend and split travel evenly.
The shortcut is accessed from the share sheet within Apple Maps on iOS and iPadOS. Unfortunately, the action doesn’t take into account routing to find the halfway point (multi-stop routing is coming with iOS 16 soon), but it is still pretty handy for most locations I’ve played around with. Once you’ve chosen a nearby location, you will be given the full address and current weather, and can then choose whether to open it in Maps, get directions or copy the URL.
If you’d like to try it out, you can download the shortcut here.
As always, let me know if you have any feedback, or would like to request a shortcut, on Twitter.
Until next week,
Rebecca
