Influencers are taking over
Suppose you have been reading this newsletter to get insight into developer trends and tooling. You may have noticed more folks have started to catch on to this shift in sharing content.
Twitch is becoming more solidified with live coding, and I have seen more interest from open source folks looking to get started. If you do not know Salma on Twitch, I recommend you follow that channel. The content is top-notch. Their skill sets the bar high for repurposing Twitch streams as YouTube videos. I hope others experiment with this idea for scaling content.
Speaking of scaling, I got an email from a company trying to build a developer content creator network. This network is a similar format I have seen at my first dev job was at IZEA. Their main focus was connecting stay-at-home moms and pets to brands sponsored posts. Trust me; there is a lot of money behind the #velveeta.
Being an influencer is a thing that started off being unique, and I now see it becoming more of a norm. Patreon is the platform I have respected for a long time (and still do). They have to build a way to empower creators to create and grow a community. Jack Conte (CEO) just closed a 155 million series F round and announced it in q clever way by sharing his pitch deck. If you have not started building content, watch that linked video and let it inspire you.
What’s next?
In the next few weeks, I will finally unveil what I have been working on, my paid content, a course. If you have been on my stream, I have mentioned that I am putting together a tiny Actions course sharing tips and tricks while making my own GitHub Actions. It will go into details I haven’t shared in other places.
I am looking forward to sharing it with you.
I also have plans to create more accessible and paid content down the road. I see it as a way to practice what I am preaching and test out some different methods for getting the word out there.
