Delivering at a slower pace is ok

What’s up?

It has been about a month since my last newsletter, which is off my biweekly cadence. I recently went heads down to ship two new projects, GitHub Automation course and the ReadME podcast.

If you have a moment, please check both out and let me know what you think. All feedback is valuable.

Both projects required me to slow down streams and go dark on the YouTube channels for a moment, but I would say it was worth it. As much as I see the value in consistently scheduled content, I look forward to raising the quality of my content, which means turning on some focus at time.

I will still enable the content flywheel of Twitch to YouTube and eventually blogposts, but learning new skills takes a little more energy. Just know when I jump in the Discord with a not about a cancelled stream, there is a lot of back and forth in my head about how I can make this work. At the end of the day, mental health is important and that means letting my self down with a slight delay. This is something I am working on, and I look forward to sharing more thoughts on soon.

I can’t find the tweet now, but Kent said it well. He used to shop course after course, but now ships courses with years of research and development. His quality bar is so high and it shows. I hope to achieve level eventually. Be sure to follow him on Twitter and join his Discord if you are not there already.

What’s next?

I also am looking forward to some downtime in the next few months. GitHub has decided to have all Fridays in the Summer as days off. It is tempting to put in a total of 8 hours on side projects and content, but I plan to re-focus some energy on resting. Friday streams will continue but expect them to change up a bit. I have big plans for creating more engaging interactions on Twitch, but I will invite guests to level up some entertainment. I am excited to share what I have planned soon.

Shout out to my new Polywork account, b.dougie.dev. I am not 100% sure of what is the goal there, but I like the idea of having another place to make things linkable. It is also a great place to store thoughts in between newsletters while still updating my blog (no planned completion date on that, lol).

I also am going to start taking Linkedin seriously next month. I have been running experiments silently on Twitter and TikTok and seeing growth with engagement on my content. We are also seeing a lot of engagement with the posts from the GitHub Linkedin account, and I feel it is worth checking out with my content.
