2021 is Here!
Goal setting for 2021
Fist off, thank you for subscribing to this newsletter, my hope was shipping a newsletter at least once a month, but I never found the energy for it. So here I am in 2021, I feel energized.
Some of that energy is coming from my recent exercise in goal planning. Setting goals and expectations for myself is paramount to how I got to where I am today. I have always been very aggressive in goal setting and approach it using the SMART goal setting technique:
- Smart (simple, sensible, significant).
- Measurable (meaningful, motivating).
- Achievable (agreed, attainable).
- Relevant (reasonable, realistic and resourced, results-based).
- Time bound (time-based, time-limited, time/cost limited, timely, time-sensitive).

I am focusing on shipping projects this year, and I could not help but do a deep dive into the Parler project and how AWS suspended its services. I spent an evening thinking about it and made a video with an explanation of what happened. I missed a few parts, but Matt Matt came in clutch with the comments explaining all the details I missed—like the internet legislation, section 230.
