Welcome to Barzai Observatory’s occasional email list! This is our first official email.
Next Saturday (30 Aug), we’ll be at the Alley Art Fest in Aurora distributing zines and gaming.
Today at Barzai Observatory, it's a balmy 22ºC, and we are thrilled to announce our upcoming field experiences for Fall 2025.
Beginning in three weeks, every 2nd Saturday of the month, we invite you to join us for an outing to explore the incredible nest of wonders in the nearby area. These is a come-as-you-are lifelong learning series for adults age 21+.
Destinations
Sept: Brookfield Zoo, 13 September (site open 10:00-18:00). Admission $29.95. Train or carpool, luncheon on site.
Oct: Nat’l Museum of Mexican Art, 11 October (19th & Wolcott, Chicago; open 10-17:00). Admission: FREE, and we will collect a donation as a group. Luncheon in nearby “Heart of Chicago”/18th St.
Nov: Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures (open 10-16:00) & DuSable Black History Museum (open 11-15:30), 15 November. Admission: ISAC suggests $15, DuSable ranges $11-$14.50. Luncheon: TBD.
Dec: Museum of Science & Industry, 13 December (site open 9:30-17:30). Admission: $25.95. Luncheon: TBD.
Format
Come if you can! This is an open invitation to attend any or all of these dates with us, share a meal, and exercise your senses of Curiosity and Wonder.
Group size will be never be more than 8 (including ourselves), this season. Vibe: informal.
Free (to participate). We will not be collecting fees or charging you to be part of the group. Admission, meals and other expenses are your responsibility. That said…
Transportation will be via carpool or we can meet you on site. We will be making group reservations, planning meals, covering parking, and making sure everyone in the carpool gets there and back again in a safe and timely manner. Speaking of…
Timings. Sept/Dec: meeting at 10:00. Oct/Nov: meeting at 9:00. Returns will be by group consensus, aiming at no later than 18:00 (including traffic on return).

Our house RPG, Stars Eternal, is raising money to help fund our programming. The new update (0.10.1) will be coming out on 30 August, and will move to a paid-only. Community copies will be available to Barzai members.
