Expedition 004: Science and Industry
Greetings, people of Earth!
Today at Barzai Observatory, it's a rainy, freezy –1ºC, and we have a quick update for the December Experience this Saturday (13th).
December brings Expedition 004, our final trip of the season!
Destinations: Museum of Science & Industry, 13 December (site open 9:30-16:00). Admission: $25.95. Luncheon: on site (menu).
Public transportation to the museum from the suburbs is, well, tricky. And parking costs money ($22 per car). Carpooling may be a possibility again! Chandreyee and I will want to leave about 9 am to get to MSI by 10-10:30 (ish).
We hope to have you join us to explore this Chicago icon (with a couple of science nerds to help nerd things up). Come see what we see!
Chandreyee & Eric
What’s Next??
We’ll be taking a winter hiatus, followed by the start of the new season opener on 14 February (honoring the 208th birthday of Frederick Douglass, as well as our regularly Second Saturday!).
Field Expeditions — Every Second Saturday! The Spring 2026 season will include Expeditions 5—8 on 14 February, 14 March, 11 April, and 9 May. Destinations TBA.
Conversations — In development. Themed evenings of conversation, sharing out and activism, for adults on the go. May well undergo mitosis into two event types, in-person and online.
Workshop projects — We have exciting stuff in the works! Our goal is to begin offering sidewalk astronomy pop-ups in the local area during late Spring through the Summer seasons.

Our home: Earthrise over the Moon — Apollo 8, December 1968.
