Vol 29 - Change of Plans
Hiya!
An update: think due to burn-out and unneeded expectations I've placed on myself, I'm gonna bump the newsletter to being biweekly. It'll give me more time to do some of my own writing on top of my usual link-sharing. Thanks for your understanding!
Okay, on to the stuff!
Interesting Stuff
The Rise and Fall of the 1-900 Number - Priceonomics
A few weeks ago my Discord and I watched a bunch of old wrestling matches that included commercials from that time period. Every time a number showed up on screen I'd try to make a call. None of the 1-900 numbers worked (although some of the 1-800 ones did!!!), which led to resident cool girl Loz finding this very interesting article about what happened to them. Give it a read!
Planted this Week
I started a Blogroll for shorter, quicker posts that I want to write as a companion to my Cafe articles! It inspired me so I wrote a lot this week hehe.
Sometimes it Feels Like I Have Nothing to Say - 09172024
Just some thoughts on my own writing, I do this a lot sorry.
I Love LEGO - 09172024
Very true.
I Love My Forum - 09182024
Also very true!
Writing About My Favorite Games
An ongoing series about my 25 Fave Games! Did 25-20, gonna do the rest with time so I can practice pacing myself.
This is Sonys Worst Generation Ever
What it says on the tin LOL.

Games
I've been really into my Anbernic SP lately and thus have been doing a lot of retro gaming, in particular Summon Night Swordcraft Story 2 and a translated version of Alphadream's very first GBA game, Tomato Adventure (RIP). I might write about it in more length, but the pocketability and long battery life have made it a nice way to chill out before bed.
Besides that, finished Dungeons of Hinterberg! Very pleasant game from beginning to end, no real qualms to speak of really! Just a solid, entertaining 20ish hours. Highly recommended! Now I'm putting more time into Arco and doing a PC run of Dragon Quest Monsters - The Dark Prince.
TV/Film
I'm just rewatching Spongebob right now. I dunno why either tbh. That shit still holds up though lmfao.
Music
Albums:
Kirby and the Forgotten Land Original Soundtrack
Visions of Mana Original Soundtrack
Minecraft - Pixel Genesis - Various Artists
Status Update
Doin' pretty good! Finally sold that car, which is a big mental load off me. The weather is finally cooling down too which is nice! I'm planning out my list of horror movies for the month as we speak - I watch one every day! You can see my notes from last year here: 28 Days of Horror Movies 2023.
Signing Off
See you in two weeks!
