The Velvet Newsletter Vol. 9: Getting Personal

This week blitzed past me without realizing. Huh. Oh well, let's get into it.

Interesting Stuff

I made a bouquet of Lego Roses. :D

The Cohost Project Database

If you follow me elsewhere you'll know that I'm mostly spending my internet social time on Cohost. If you've followed me for a while you'll know that I love hearing about the stuff people are making. So I thought it'd be fun to start compiling the creative works of people there so it can be easily accessed in a directory of sorts. I think Obsidian is good for that sort of thing too, so I'm giving it a shot! If you're a Cohost user, feel free to add your project in using the provided links.

In the future, I'm gonna showcase these projects in this here newsletter! Yay!

Sharing Links is My Love Language

It's true! You can read all about it, haha.

Dealing with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria

TWO weirdly personal articles in one week? It's true, I've been feeling myself. Jokes aside this was received pretty well on Cohost so I hope it helps y'all too.

What I'm Playing

I currently have a system to clear my backlog - I've basically started from zero. Any game I buy in 2024 I must finish before I get another one, with major releases like Infinite Wealth, Dragon's Dogma 2 and FF7:Rebirth being exceptions. This also doesn't count if I find myself not enjoying and wanting to drop the game, but I'm trying to mitigate that this year by being choosier in general, haha. When I have a clear 2024 backlog I am then free to move about the cabin pick from the rest of my backlog and see what interests me.

That being said, I bought and finished Momodora: Moonlit Farewell! It was a cute little 7ish-hour metroidvania experience. The Momodora games really capture the aesthetic of Cave Story, one of my top 25s, so that's always nice to see. Nice and cozy and filled with cats. Check it out!

Beyond that I got back into Labyrinth of Touhou. Now that I have a guide and 12 full members I'm really enjoying it. Probably the best dungeon crawler I've played on PC so far. Nice to plug away at while I'm watching a movie or whatever.

In Granblue news I've decided to go with Yuel as my secondary and...hurp...Belial as my main....at least for now. Yes, I'm just as horrified as you are. BUt his buttons are so fun to press and I feel like I'm really understanding his pressure. I dunno if I'll stick with him, especially as 2B draws nier[1], but for now I'm really enjoying learning him. Just gotta work on my combos, don't have those quite down yet.

Velvet Album

The Comming of Gaze

Gohmi M. on Bandcamp:

To pick a favorite track to me feels almost blasphemous as each song out of context of the album doesn't work. Each song of melancholic lamentation is later balanced with songs of joyous self empowerment.

This album bleeds the spirit of its author. a multifaceted pool of inspirations and samples steeped in a soul yearning for a world without rulers, both abstract that we put in our heads and the physical ones we put on thrones.

Status Update

I'm chilling, figuratively and literally - it's cold over here. But I'm feeling pretty good. Hope things are going well for you too! :D

Signing Off

That's all for now! Hope you have a relaxing weekend!
