I was super sick! So pwease read my stuff!

It's been two weeks, because I came back from my work trip and the unwashed masses gave me a flu that turned into a whole-ass sinus infection that completely destroyed me for a full week and which I'm still recovering from! Thank you, guy sitting next to me on the flight that open-mouth coughed the entire time! :)

I'm finally feeling good enough to be somewhat back on my feet, and I even got some stuff done, so here's the letter.

Sad Stuff

[1]

Akira Toriyama

His passing was announced and it made very, very sad, as I'm sure it did most people in my age bracket. So much of what Toriyama has done is a corner-stone of my identity: Dragonball Z was the quintessential show for black kids my age, Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games of all time, and Dragon Quest isn't far beyond - especially Monsters and V. He's an actual icon, the biggest mangaka besides Tezuka, and the kind of creator that's so ubiquitous you don't ever even think that he, like all things, will pass one day.

But he did, and I've been thinking about it a lot. What it means about me and what I leave behind, and the ephemeral nature of everything I love. Don't worry I'm not gonna pontificate on that here, but I will during therapy this week!

Interesting Stuff

Auldnoir

auldnoir in gravity rush

Auldnoir is a location in one of my favorite games of all time, Gravity Rush. It's the location where Kat wakes up before her adventure begins and one that I was fascinated by. I'd spend hours flying around in it, exploring every nook and cranny of its brownstone houses and furnaces and factories, along with the rest of Hekseville and the World Pillar.

It became a place I consider a digital home, and it's the namesake for the forum I've created for the same reason!

Auldnoir is a place where I'd like to try and bring back that old-school forum spirit to my life again. If you know me, you'll know I spend most of my time on Cohost, and I love it there, but it doesn't scratch the itch that a traditional forum does. So I figured I'd take a crack at making one myself! I have an idea of what I think this place could be like, and I'll be building the initial structure - but y'all are the ones that'll bring it to life, so if you join: thank you! I hope you enjoy it.

Planted this Week

The Dessertoverse

A new world of OCs based on me and my friends' favorite video game genres! It's already been a lot of fun, and it's gonna be even more fun in the future!

Interviewing DevAngus on .hack

Did an interview on .hack with DevAngus! It was great getting to learn about the fanbase and their passion for the series.

I'd like to keep this weekly pace up, so I'll be pulling from The Cohost Project Database to do another interview!

What I'm Playing

So...............I was playing Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. I am not enjoying it. It will take a very long blog post to explain why, so I'll do that another day. Now I am playing Unicorn Overlord. It, on the other hand, is very quickly becoming my favorite Vanillaware game. I am having an absolute blast with it. Check it out, especially if you love Fire Emblem and/or Final Fantasy XII!

Besides that I haven't been playing much because I've been so sick. RIP.

Status Update

I'm so pissed at the lost time from being so sick. It's probably the most sick I've ever gotten for this long, all because I was forced to go outside for work, and be around incredibly gross people. I'm just glad it wasn't Covid.

It also means I'm going to miss the first few days of Ramadan while I finish my antibiotics. Blegh. Oh well. Ramadan Kareem!
