Monday AI Moment Week 1: The one skill that makes AI actually useful
The most basic and important skill of AI
Hi Fren!
Welcome to the first Monday AI Moment for Bark to Bank. One simple AI tip every week. Something that will take you 5-10 minutes to learn - just stuff that actually saves you time in your life AND with pet content creation, so you can spend LESS time online and MORE time walking your dog. I’ll also provide a time-saving prompt for you to try once a week!
Here's the thing: I know how overwhelming AI can feel. I have been learning about it for almost 3 years now, and I am still overwhelmed. There's SO much out there, so many tools, so much to learn, and it is changing every day. That's exactly why these are bite-sized lessons that will take you MAYBE 5-10 minutes per week. That's it. And honestly? If you're spending any time at all learning AI weekly and how it can make life easier, you're already ahead of 90% of your peers. Most people aren't doing this. You are. That matters.
This week we are starting at square 1: prompting. Which is just a fancy word for 'how to talk to AI so it actually gives you what you want.'
Here's the simple version. A prompt is what you type (or say) to an AI like ChatGPT or Claude to get it to do something. Think of it like giving directions to a very smart assistant who's never worked with you before. The clearer you are, the better the result. Vague prompt = vague answer. Specific prompt = actually useful output.
The good news: if you're not naturally someone who writes out super detailed instructions, you can ask AI to improve your own prompt for you. This is called a meta prompt, and it's beginner-proof. I use it all the time vs trying to come up with some super detailed prompt on my own. You just write whatever comes naturally, ask AI to make it into a metaprompt, and then it answers using the better version.
Try this today:
Open ChatGPT.com. Type something rough, like: 'Write a caption for a reel about why my dog is obsessed with fetch.'
Then add this at the end before you hit send:
Before you answer, improve this into a meta prompt to make it more specific and useful. Ask me any clarifying questions you need, show me the improved version, then answer using that.
Watch what happens. It'll ask you the right questions (What's your vibe? Are you selling something? How long should it be?), then rewrite your rough request into something way better, then use that to write the caption. You'll immediately see the difference between vague and specific.
Quick bonus: use your phone's microphone instead of typing. Just talk to it. AI picks up on your tone and style better when you speak, and the outputs feel more like you.
This is zero pressure. Just try it and see. Reply anytime if you have questions.
PROMPT OF THE WEEK:
If your to-do list never ends, you’re not alone.
Here’s a prompt to help you save hours each week by rethinking what you do and how you do it. [Fill in the blanks] then copy and paste it into your favorite AI tool:
Act as a time management strategist and AI productivity consultant. Help me audit and simplify my weekly workflow so I can save at least 10 hours per week. First, I’ll list all the key tasks I do every week: [insert weekly tasks]. My goal is to reduce time spent on repetitive tasks, batch where possible, automate where feasible, and build a smarter weekly structure. I want to know what I can stop doing, what I can delegate to AI, what I can templatize, and what should be scheduled differently. Recommend practical changes I can make this week, specific AI tools or systems I can use to reduce manual effort, and help me create a new weekly schedule that gives me more focus, more breathing room, and better results — without working more hours.
This prompt helps you:
List your repeating weekly tasks
Highlight what can be batched or automated
Spot time leaks hiding in your schedule
Build a smarter weekly workflow with AI or templates
