BARKING AT THE GARBAGE TRUCK #4: Fall is Upon Us

Ok so the leaves are changing and I've been wearing a hoodie when I walk the dog in the morning, so I guess it's fall.

That means a couple of things — a book about the summer and a playlist of some of the bangers of the summer.

The book: Get dumped. Get possessed. Bring about the end of all things.

Heartbroken, fourteen year old Eric runs to the lakeshore, where an oddly soothing voice keeps assuring him that “the water is perfect for a late night swim.” When Eric tries to find the source of the sound, a water arm shoots out of the lake and yanks him in. Eric emerges…different—and it’s about to become his older sister, senior counselor, Kelsey’s biggest problem.

THE SUMMER IN YOUR BLOOD is a new, 56 page cosmic horror summer camp slasher graphic novella with art by Desolina Fletcher (Shades of Fear)  and a script from Mark Bouchard...and it's live on Kickstarter right now.

There are 8 pages at the above link, but here are the first 3.

FOC has passed, but you can still head down to your local comic shop October 11th to snag my next release—the SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Halloween Special. (Pencils are by Jack Lawrence. Inks by Matt Froese. Colors by Gigi Dutreix. Letters by Shawn Lee. Edited by David Mariotte.) Here's a page that's been okay'd to show:

You get the gist—it's spooky & fun, and features some of my favorite guys: the Chaotix. It's also appropriate for all ages. I had a blast writing this one, as I am a huge Sonic-head. We're celebrating the release with a signing at Challengers in Chicago on Saturday, October 14th from 12pm-2pm. We'll be playing Sonic Adventure 2 Battle two-player on a lil CRT. Come snag a book and get smoked by me at Sonic.

I also started writing a novella. Like, a prose novella. I've outlined the whole thing fairly loosely, and have blocked out chapters. I'm about halfway through writing the second one. I'll bring an update on that in my December letter.

I'll be spending a large portion of December working on the novella, but also a bunch of it will go to revisions on a YA eco horror gn I'm developing with George Williams, whose book LET ME OUT releases from Oni Press next week!

Also, for those of you who are looking for new music to get into, check this out. 30 minutes of my favorite music released in the last five months. I've really been digging the new Angel Du$t and Jeff Rosenstock records. And the Soul Glo and Mannequin Pussy singles, oh man. So much good stuff. Listen to that here.

Until December.
