SFSU's Student Center Awaits a New Name as Renaming Panel Nears Its Deadline

After two days of town halls, Associated Students must deliver a renaming recommendation to its Board of Directors by the end of October.

San Francisco State University's central student building has been without an official name since 2026, when sexual-abuse allegations against Cesar Chavez — after whom the building had been named since the 1970s — prompted the university's student government to begin a renaming process. The building, which opened in 1975 and houses a 500-seat auditorium, student lounges, dining, and offices for dozens of student organizations, currently has its signage covered.

Sbarro Is Coming Back to Stonestown — After a Four-Year Absence

The mall-food-court pizza chain is set to reclaim the upper-level space it vacated in 2022, replacing Bay Area chain Blondie's Pizza, which left owing back rent.

Stonestown Galleria confirmed this week that Sbarro will return to its food court, expected sometime in the first quarter of 2027. The chain will occupy the same upper-level spot it held before Blondie's Pizza took over the space roughly four years ago. Blondie's had signed a decade-long lease when it moved in, but Stonestown's operator sued the restaurant in January, alleging it owed more than $74,000 in unpaid rent.

The latest update to the project was reported this week by the Sunset Beacon.
