Community Rallies Save Richmond Neighborhood Center — For Now

SFUSD quietly shelved a developer solicitation for the Outer Richmond site after more than 100 residents stormed a school board meeting, but the nonprofit's lease still expires in June 2027.

The Richmond Neighborhood Center won a hard-fought reprieve this week after a swift community campaign forced the San Francisco Unified School District to pull back a plan that could have displaced the Outer Richmond nonprofit from its longtime home. The Presidio's 250th Birthday Arrives Thursday

September 17 marks 250 years to the day since El Presidio de San Francisco was founded, with public screenings of a new documentary at the Presidio Chapel commemorating the milestone.

The week that residents and history enthusiasts have been anticipating all year is finally here. Thursday, September 17, 2026 marks the precise 250th anniversary of the founding of El Presidio de San Francisco — the Spanish colonial garrison established on September 17, 1776, that gave rise to the park, the military post, and ultimately the city that surrounds it.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission reported as of August 10 that the Phase 2 sewer and water replacement project is more than 80 percent complete and remains ahead of schedule. Work in Segment A — from 32nd Avenue toward the inner avenues — is 100 percent done.
