Fisherman's Wharf Forward Plaza Reaches Its Summer Finish Line

The Port of San Francisco's $10 million Taylor Street overhaul has reached the end of its summer 2026 construction window, with the new public plaza on the Alioto's footprint set to open imminently.

The Port of San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf Forward project has reached the close of its self-imposed summer 2026 construction deadline, with a new 5,000-square-foot public plaza on the site of the long-shuttered Alioto's Restaurant nearing completion on Taylor Street. The Port's own project page lists December 2025 through August 2026 as the window for demolition and construction activity along Taylor Street between Jefferson Street and the Embarcadero.

Contested 955 Sansome Tower Still in Planning Limbo as SocketSite Reports August Update

The proposed 24-story residential tower at the base of Telegraph Hill — which has grown from 8 to 24 stories across five years of filings — remained unresolved before the Planning Department as of this week.

Developer Aralon Properties has filed applications that have grown the project from an initial eight-story, 24-unit building to a 24-story tower with 102 apartments — a transformation driven by successive use of state density bonus laws and Assembly Bill 1287.
