North Beach Historic District Derailed Again — November Hearing Is Off, Sauter Advances Rival Plan

A federal notice violation has pushed the long-delayed state hearing to at least next year, while Supervisor Sauter's smaller, city-level district proposal moves forward on a separate track.

The years-long effort to place North Beach on the National Register of Historic Places has hit another wall. According to the SF Standard's Oct. 21 Power Play column, a four-day gap in notifying property owners violated a federal requirement to provide 60 days' notice before a public hearing, forcing the State Historic Resources Commission to remove the North Beach nomination from its Nov. 12–13 Sacramento agenda. The hearing will not be rescheduled until 2027 at the earliest.

Woods Grotto Opens at Fisherman's Wharf, Bringing Craft Beer and Cocktails to the Waterfront

Woods Beer & Wine Co. opened its sixth San Francisco location this week in the former Fishermen's Grotto No. 9 space on Taylor Street.

Woods Beer & Wine Co. opened Woods Grotto at 2847 Taylor St. at Fisherman's Wharf on or around Oct. 19, according to a review published that day by The Infatuation. It is the brewery's sixth San Francisco location and its first directly on the waterfront. The taproom occupies part of the former Fishermen's Grotto No. 9 seafood restaurant, a space the Port of San Francisco made available through a short-term lease as part of the Fisherman's Wharf Forward revitalization effort.
