Wasatch County Sheriff Goes on Paid Leave After Felony Indictment — Undersheriff to Take Charge
The County Council unanimously accepted Sheriff Jared Rigby's offer to step back from daily duties while his obstruction-of-justice case moves through the courts.
The Wasatch County Council voted unanimously on Wednesday, October 21, to formally place Sheriff Jared Rigby on voluntary paid administrative leave, ending a standoff that had threatened to produce a more dramatic confrontation. The council had been poised to vote on a resolution calling for Rigby's outright resignation, but on the eve of that meeting Rigby sent a letter to the council and County Manager Dustin Grabau saying he would step back from day-to-day duties voluntarily while his criminal case remains pending in Third District Court.

Indoor Pickleball Hall and a Possible Bypass Shift Come Before Heber City Council

As currently envisioned, the development would place a bank and a coffee shop along Main Street, with indoor pickleball courts and additional amenities tucked behind on a lot near Wasatch High School.

Mayor Heidi Franco and Police Chief Parker Sever said that police records, emergency dispatch, and the city website were unaffected throughout the incident, and that residents can continue using online bill pay and other services at heberut.gov with confidence. Police records are stored on county servers and were never at risk, and the city website runs on a separate cloud-based platform.
