'Dutton Ranch,' the Yellowstone Spinoff Filmed in Ferris, Renewed for Season 2

The Paramount+ series starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser — shot primarily on a 5,200-acre Ferris property — was renewed before its nine-episode first season finished airing in July.

Ferris had its national close-up over the past year as the primary filming location for 'Dutton Ranch,' the Yellowstone spinoff that premiered May 15 on Paramount+ and the Paramount Network. The series stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprising their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, and filmed in and around Ferris from August 2025 through March 2026, according to D Magazine and WFAA. Additional scenes were shot in Boyd, Weatherford, Cleburne, and other North Texas locations to build out the fictional South Texas town of Rio Paloma.

Chipotle Coming to 391 N. Sonoma Trail in Ennis Later This Month

A DFW-wide expansion announced October 5 includes a new Ennis location converting a former restaurant on N. Sonoma Trail, with a state licensing completion date of October 30.

Ennis is set to get a new Chipotle Mexican Grill at 391 N. Sonoma Trail, with an opening expected later in October. CW33/KDAF reported on October 5 that Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening five new locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth area by year's end. The expansion includes new restaurants in Dallas, Ennis, Lewisville, and Corsicana. The opening schedule began with a Dallas location on October 6, followed by the Ennis location at 391 N. Sonoma Trail later this month.

Early Voting Opens October 19 in Ellis County Ahead of November 3 General Election

Ellis County's gubernatorial general and special elections are less than four weeks away, with early voting running October 19–30 and Election Day set for Tuesday, November 3.

Ellis County residents will head to the polls for a general and special election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Early voting runs October 19 through October 30, according to the Ellis County Elections Department. Sample ballots and polling location information are available at elliscountytx.gov. As of October 1, the county had 159,039 registered voters on the rolls. The voter registration deadline for this election has passed — October 5 was the last day to register or make changes to a voter record.
