D8 Race Enters Final Stretch: Three Candidates Spar at Commonwealth Club Forum
With eleven days until Election Day, McCoy, Nguyen, and Patel clashed Tuesday over housing, surveillance, and political endorsements — as Yekutiel's name lingers on the ballot.
The race to succeed term-limited Supervisor Rafael Mandelman heated up Tuesday evening when the three remaining District 8 candidates — Gary McCoy, Michael Nguyen, and Darshini Patel — faced each other at a forum hosted by Commonwealth Club World Affairs and the San Francisco Democratic Party. The debate, billed as the Gr8T Debate, marked the sharpest public exchange yet in a contest covering the Castro, Noe Valley, Glen Park, Diamond Heights, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Planning Wants Six New Landmark Districts in Duboce Triangle — Community Meetings Just Wrapped
SF Planning and Supervisor Mandelman held back-to-back forums this week on a proposal to designate six collections of Victorian and Edwardian buildings as protected historic districts, with adoption targeted for December.
Duboce Triangle residents got their first detailed look this week at a plan to significantly expand historic protections across the neighborhood. San Francisco Planning, joining Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, held an in-person community meeting on Wednesday, October 21, at the Gazebo Room of CPMC Davies Campus at 601 Castro Street, followed by a virtual session on Thursday evening. The proposal calls for six new landmark districts within Duboce Triangle, covering buildings ranging from small groupings of just three structures to collections of roughly fifty.

Glen Park Station Bar Raised a Glass to 100 Years Last Weekend
The village's longest-running drinking establishment marked a full century on October 17 with a street closure, an all-day party, and a history talk from the neighborhood's own archivist.
Glen Park's Glen Park Station bar turned 100 years old this month, and the neighborhood turned out to celebrate. The centennial party ran Saturday, October 17, from 1 to 9 p.m. at 2816 Diamond Street, with a street closure along Diamond from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to give the festivities room to spread. At 1:30 p.m., Evelyn Rose, founder of the Glen Park Neighborhoods History Project, led a public history talk tracing the bar's origins in 1926 and its hundred-year run as the neighborhood's social anchor.
