Nine New Bayview Businesses Are Opening on Third Street This Fall, Led by Bayview Oyster Bar
City Storefront Opportunity Grants totaling $800,000 are fueling a wave of new openings on Bayview's main commercial corridor, including a seafood restaurant from a Bayview-born restaurateur opening this month.

The grants, ranging from $50,000 to $100,000, cover tenant improvements, equipment, inventory, and permits. Opening this month at 5114 Third Street is Bayview Oyster Bar, from April Spears, a Bayview native whose previous Auntie April's Chicken-N-Waffles was a neighborhood institution.

The Recreation and Park Commission voted unanimously in April to recommend accepting the grant and to approve an accompanying public-private partnership agreement.
