Baby Ghosts is a Charity!
Hi ghosties,
We have exciting news — Baby Ghosts has officially levelled up from a nonprofit to a charity!
*Cue Super Mario Bros power up sound effect.*
How does being a charity differ from a nonprofit?
Well, it now means that we are recognized by the government as operating exclusively for a charitable purpose. In our case, that purpose is the advancement of education which we do through workshops, training, bursaries, and research around cooperative and worker-centric structures
This also means that now, when you donate more than $20 to Baby Ghosts, you get a receipt you can claim on your taxes.
Your donations help us:
offer bursaries to developers
pay our peer supports
develop and share free materials and tools
and pay the salaries of our small team!
We know that late-stage capitalism has many people just scraping by. Beyond donations, we are also now able to offer tax receipts for membership dues paid to Ghost Guild, our peer-driven membership network for indie game devs exploring cooperative and worker-centred creative practices without a team. Join our waitlist to learn more.
We appreciate your support, big or small, and are excited to have this opportunity to keep contributing to cooperative education.
Upcoming events:
Catch us IRL at XP Summit Toronto and XP Summit Halifax
Join us in Toronto for No Bosses! Real Talk From Cooperative Game Studios on Friday June 12 6:00 - 8:30pm at North York Library
Cooperatively and (now) charitably yours,
- eileen & Jennie
